At Home in Highlands: Community Safety and Well-Being Grant Project.

Compensation: $35/hr, with ~6 hours a week.

At Home in Highlands (AHiH), a program of the Highlands Community League, is looking for a part-time contract Project Manager to manage a grant-funded community research project that seeks to verify and overcome barriers to welcome, inclusivity and hospitality in the Highlands neighbourhood. 

Grant activities look at issues like, and include:

  • the housing profile of Highlands
  • housing affordability barriers and possible solutions
  • landlord hesitancy and discrimination, and helpful supports
  • not-in-my-backyard (NIMBY) perception and education
  • current availability of services and supports, and identification of gaps
  • documentation of a model for achieving the AHiH vision
  • alignment with City of Edmonton affordable housing strategy

The ideal candidate is/has:

  • Skilled in project management
  • Skilled in team management
  • Experience and interest in community development
  • Experience and interest in affordable housing, homelessness
  • Experience in organizing and facilitating meetings
  • Awareness of neighbourhood governance and governing bodies (e.g. community league, EFCL)
  • Skilled in electronic administration and communication (email, document management, Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc.)
  • Able to work from home
  • Able to accommodate flex in work hours (ebb and flow in work intensity)
  • Ideally lives in Highlands

The anticipated hours are an average of 6 hours/week at $35/hour over a two year contract. Payment will be made by an invoicing schedule to be determined with the grant advisory group. 

The position will start in March 2023.
